Interesting...

Didn't Genuine Risk leave MoBay before the award ceremony? How did they get their hands on the trophy?

Hands on the trophy? Just asked the committee.

Funny I count 7 boats with better corrected time and half of them were still racing when you "asked for the trophy"

Anonymous- Thanks for your comment, and viewing our blog- If you have questions or concerns for the Race Committee I suggest you contact them directly, as we are not affiliated. As for the comparison of corrected times, PHRF corrected times and IRC corrected times cannot be directly compared, for details of how that is done I would again suggest contacting the race committee.

Perhaps but you still accepted the major award while we were still on the race course with an opportunity to win as well. Even with a ratings fudge factor as you claim it could have been close. It was not proper to award, or give you the trophy to hold whatever you want to call it.

Again, if you have concerns please address them to the race committee. I'm happy to discuss further offline, but not with an "Anonymous" commenter.

The Silver Pineapple Cup is not awarded for "best corrected time" as this blog incorrectly states, but for "best overall performance by a monohull boat." There is a big difference. If you rescore the race using IRC ratings for the PHRF boats, it wasn't even close. The decision was not made on Wednesday while boats were still racing, it was made on Friday before the awards ceremony. Well done to the MMA crew!

Corrected.

So who got the navigator's trophy if not GR?

How could the decision have been made on Friday when the date at the top of the picture says Feb 9 which was Wednesday?

Here is what I posted to the SORC Facebook page regarding this- As I seem to have started this mess, perhaps I can end it- Late Wednesday afternoon, while most of the GR crew was still present, and before the boat left for Antigua, someone brought out the Pineapple to get a crew picture with it. It was ...my belief that this was done with the committees approval, and hence I posted the picture on the Kings Point blog (with the mistaken text of "best corrected time" which is nowhere in the NOR.) Whether at the behest of the committee or not, it was unprofessional of me to post this prior to the awards ceremony on Friday, and I have sent an apology to the committee. SORC Sailing has posted on this page an excellent description of their process for determining the Pineapple cup winner, which is not easy when you have two different rating systems that cannot be directly compared, and I applaud them for describiing the system and for running a spectacular event.

The writer is totally fair, and there's no doubt.

Just shipped the Genuine Risk to Hong Kong on a CMA CGM vessel. Looks like she was a really nice vessel. How did she end up at KP?
